Golden Visa Status Check: How to Track Your UAE Application

You have filed, you have paid, and now nothing appears to be happening. Here is how to actually check where a UAE Golden Visa application stands, what each status means, and when silence is a problem rather than normal.

Where to check

Which portal you use depends on where the application was filed, and this is the first thing people get wrong.

You will need your application or transaction number. If an agent filed on your behalf and did not give you that number, ask for it now. It is the only reliable way to track the file yourself rather than relying on someone else’s summary.

What you need to check a status

If your passport was renewed after you applied, the number on the file will not match your current passport. That mismatch is a common reason a status lookup returns nothing, and it does not mean the application has vanished.

What the statuses actually mean

The wording varies between portals, but the stages are consistent.

How long is normal

With a complete, correctly attested file, decisions commonly land within roughly ten business days. The full cycle including medical, biometrics and Emirates ID issuance more realistically runs two to three weeks.

So a pending status in the first two weeks is entirely normal. The published times assume your file was right first time, and incomplete documentation is the single most common source of delay.

When silence is actually a problem

Chasing at day three achieves nothing. These are the situations that genuinely warrant action:

After approval

Approval is not the last step. You still need biometrics and your Emirates ID, and Golden Visa holders generally receive prioritised Emirates ID processing. Only once the Emirates ID is issued is the residency fully usable for banking, tenancy and the rest of ordinary life.

Keep the approval and the Emirates ID together in your records. You will need both at renewal, and renewal requires a fresh medical and biometrics rather than being a formality.

If it comes back rejected

A refusal is more often about the evidence than about you. The usual causes are applying under the wrong category, submitting documents that do not prove the category claimed, or an incomplete attestation chain on a foreign degree.

Before re-filing, work out which of the six categories genuinely gives you the strongest file. Our two-minute Golden Visa eligibility check walks through all six and the evidence each one needs.
